Firefox 1.5 and InspectElement extension

I believe InspectElement is one of the most useful developer extensions out there. Sadly, once you upgrade to Firefox 1.5 this extension is dubbed as incompatible and rejected. If you don't want to wait until it's officially fixed, you can do like me:

  1. download the extension inspect_element-0.3-fx.xpi (Save Link As...)
  2. extract the file install.rdf
  3. change the maxVersion entry to: <em:maxVersion>1.5+</em:maxVersion>
  4. repack thi xpi file with the new install.rdf
  5. drag the file to firefox to install

It takes only two minutes and the extension works without problems.

Flock

On max suggestion, I just downloaded a beta of flock.  And I'm posting this note on my blog through their interface. Nothing more than a test, a review maybe later...

MoveableType 3.2

Just installed MovableType version 3.2 on my server, an old win2000 box. I had to replay all the painful procedures I had to pass through with the preceding version: manually edit the config file to locate the database, manually move the statics to another folder, manually change the shebang in all *.cgi files. Fortunately the perl enviroment was setup since the first MT install, with all the required additions: no time lost on this.

However, MovableType seems to run a bit faster when rebuilding, and the interface is cleaner than before (sadly enough it looks good in Internet Explorer, but scrambled in Firefox, my browser of choice).

But I can't complain, since I downloaded the free version, which now allows an unlimited numer of blogs. Terrific.

[Update] The problem with Firefox is fixed. A CSS was causing the scrambling, a forced reload set everything fine.

Regolo

Regolo
